Speaking of inspiration.

The basic idea was to have visitors write in and share what inspires them in their day to day lives when things take a turn for the mundane. Most of the 37 contributors are “arts” oriented and there’s some good reading there.
I find myself with a lack of inspiration from time to time…
The excuses could go on forever, “this project is boring”, “there’s all these restrictions and stipulations, I don’t have much creative freedom…”, etc, etc. Now in all fairness, there are those less exciting projects, and those so constrained by guidelines that there doesn’t seem to be any room for you the designer to do more than decide whether you should left align or left justify the body copy. However, projects like those mentioned could very well be the type that separate the mediocre designers from the ones that “get it”.
Everyone finds inspiration their own way, my personal favorite is coffee and a short drive just to get out and see what I see. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. As Jack Black said, “…you can’t manufacture inspirado”. And he’s right, sometimes you can’t. In the end though I suppose the ones that “get it” are the ones that find a way to get over the uninspired hump and still do good work. I’m finding lately that taking pride in your work is a good place to start…
